This is a popular ski touring route which is generally considered to be difficult. It's not remote, it features medium exposure (e2) and is typically done between December and April. From a low point of 1.6 km to the maximum altitude of 4.2 km, the route covers 35 km, 2714 vertical metres of ascent and 2715 vertical metres of descent. You'll need rope, skins, ice axe, crampons and glacier kit to complete it safely.

Starting and ending in Zermatt, this long Skitour to Breithorn requires solid endurance and possibly glacier safety equipment. For early season days with little snow on most other glaciers, this can be a highly rewarding day.
