Trail Running Easy
Step inside the gates of Richmond Park, and you’ll experience the immediate dissolution of London’s concrete jungle and bustling traffic. Let city smog disperse and be swept into the tranquil oasis boasting lakes, woodlands, and meadows. Take a few deep breaths and enjoy the smells of the 800-year-old ancient oaks before making your way to the Tasman Trail. Here you’ll find "the stump," where a gentle 5-kilometre loop is waiting to lead you through the natural environment.
As an important habitat for wildlife and a National Nature Reserve, the 2,500-acre park is home to hundreds of Red and Fallow deer, setting this park well apart from anywhere else around London. These wild deer have transformed the park since the 1600s, and you’ll notice a distinct "browse line" in the foliage, cultivated by the grazing habits of the deer. Spot them as you course through the singletrack around the park.
The vast park is brimming with a myriad of trails to explore, or finish the loop and hop on a bike or horse and see the park from a different angle. For a social loop, you can meet with other parkrunners just before 9am each Saturday near Bishops Gate. Half a mile from the finish is Pembroke Lodge, where you can enjoy a post-run coffee.
