While the Tall Trees Grove might be the best hike in Redwood National Park, that adventure is not for the faint of heart. While many families will attempt the endeavor, a much easier outing in the redwoods can be found on the nearby Lady Bird Johnson Trail. This family-friendly loop runs for just 1.4 miles on a mostly-flat, smooth trail.

Description

The redwoods in this grove are certifiably huge, many of which feature carved-out bases that children may enjoy playing in. The understory is covered with ferns and rhododendrons, "which bloom in May and early June," according to Lana Law on PlanetWare.com.

The Lady Bird Johnson Grove is located high on a mountainside in the upper reaches of Redwood National Park. Consequently, "the forest is often shrouded in fog, creating a very serene atmosphere," according to Law.
