Bald 1 Map

A fifteen minute hike gives access to the power fields of Bald 1 - an easily digestible north-east facing powder collecting zone. From Prospect Express chair 12 stay skiers left on upper Galloping Goose along the boundary rope to find the avalanche control gate for the Bald Mountain area. You start the hike in forests and a third of the way up hit the tree line. Half way to the summit lines peel across the face to the right and head into the wood below. Usually one of the first hike-to areas to open after a storm, Bald 1 offers powder turns with less consequence and lap time. It is suited perfectly for advanced skiers looking to advance in sidecountry powder. While it is an avalanche control area it is best to treat it as backcountry and be prepared. Ski with friends in a responsible fashion and be wary of tree wells as the Colorado pow pow can get deep on these aspects. Always scope conditions as conditions can be poor here.
