Take Prospect Express chair 12 to the top and grab a hot chocolate and a snack at High Camp warming hut. Head down Galloping Goose along the ski area boundary on the left until you see signs to Bald Mountain via an access gate. The trailhead is easy to find after Ski Patrol leave tracks where they have been carrying out avalanche control. Obey the signage if the area is closed. Once open the hike up is gentle and scenic and views across Prospect Bowl, Gold Hill and Palmyra Peak beg you to take a break every few steps. Over the ridge looking South is some of the best views of Lizzard Head and Mt Wilson. After you reach the Summit of Bald Mountain and take more photos, drop in over the top and shred the ridge line toward Ute Park. Play on any formed wind lips and remember to stay right of the area boundary rope as the South face of Bald Mountain is permanently closed due to rocky exposure and high avalanche risk. Follow the fall line straight along the ridge and when the mountain opens into a pyramid bowl stay skiers right and head for the tree line. This is a long consistent crown of a run that looks across the resort and softens in pitch as the bottom approaches. Leading you back onto Galloping goose near Ute Park.
