Death Chute Map

The Fish Creek area is a legendary side country canyon parallel to Steamboat Resort. It's home to some of the most accessible extreme terrain in all of Colorado! Zone 0 is one of the scariest areas in the canyon. To get here, take the Zone 1 entrance and follow the chute that goes skier's right. Skiing Zone 0 is challenging by itself but what makes it a horrifying experience is the traverse into it. Once you head towards Zone 1's right chute, start immediately traversing upwards to clear the massive rock spine that separates Zone 1 and Zone 0. This part is unbelievably intimidating as your skis's edges are the only thing separating you and a nasty fall over a cliff into the boulders below. Once you clear the cliff, you're officially in Zone 0, an area of Fish Creek that's rarely skied due to how hard it is to get in here. The skiing itself is extremely steep initially due to a few turns on 45°+ terrain. It does mellow out eventually and once it does, you'll have some amazing turns in an epic tree chute bordered by two massive cliffs. You'll eventually merge with the Zone 1 runout and this line will take you to the bottom of the zone where you must skin/hike out. Note that the runout has massive boulders that could make for some great pillows under the right conditions.
