Summit Chute Map

This chute, which is the only skiable line directly off Jacque Peak, takes quite a bit of effort to reach. You must traverse out a backcountry gate, climb up the bowl, hike to the shoulder of the peak (right above the flat portion of the bowl) and then scale the summit ridge all the way up to 13,000 feet. This last portion especially can be exasperating since you're very exposed and since the ridge is very narrow. The work to get to this point as well as the generally marginal snow conditions will deter several from even attempting this hike. If you do manage to do the hike on a good snow year, then it's almost impossible to be disappointed by this chute. It's quite steep and narrow, but not tight enough to be truly difficult. Be wary of little rocks that can poke out on some lesser snow years. When you get to the bottom, you can then head straight down a higher up and even more untouched part of the bowl. If you're up for the challenge of getting here, this can be one of the most amazing lines you'll ski!
