A stoic sunny ridge ride down drainage #2 of the Y Chutes
Freeride Skiing Difficult
The bald nose up the ridge offers a nice vantage point to run Y1 or Y2. Y1 is the first drainage directly below the skin track ridge. Ski right from the bald nose to access the southern Y2 drainage. Once you ski pass the low gradient pine forest, you will come to another bald aspect with multiple gulches that descend into the Y2 drainage. These 4-5 micro-ridges are fun to explore, which means you’ll be back here 4 to 5 days after a powder day (if the sun doesn’t cook it). The recommended route is to stay high on the main ridge between the Y1 and Y2 gulches. Ride this open mixed tree glade run all the way down or fall right off the fall line and swerve up and down the traversing slope left. When the run gets steeper towards the bottom, veer left to head towards Beano’s cabin where a cat trail awaits to take you to Talon’s lodge.
Difficult
Serious gradient of 30-38 degrees where a real risk of slipping exists.
