Traditional west slopes route up Broken Hand Peak - Spectacular sunrise view of the needle. This tops the list thus far of my favorite sunrise summits in the Sange de Cristo's. You start from South Colony Lakes Trailhead - the traditional approach to summit the Crestone Needle. After broken hand pass - veer left and follow the FATMAP route to the summit of Broken Hand Peak - and enjoy some of the best views of the Needle that you can get!
