Chavez and Beaver Brook Loop Map

The Chavez and Beaver Brook Loop is a popular hike outside of Golden in Genesee Park. This 5-mile loop passes through mostly mellow terrain, with towering pine forests, a rushing mountain stream, and wildflowers in the springtime.

Description

The hiking along this rolling loop is fairly easy, although you should expect a few rocks here and there. That said, there is one exposed section of trail that hugs the side of a rocky cliff, but this stretch of trail is over pretty quickly.

Some sources note that the northern section of the trail doesn't offer any bridges for crossing the streams, which can pose a challenge during high water in the springtime. However, the many stream crossings and the shade from the pine trees make this a great dog-friendly hike, even in the heat of summer.
