Iconic Classic Steep Couloir
Ski Touring Extreme
The most popular line in this zone by far for good reason. It sits in clear view from Arapahoe Basin Ski Area and from Loveland Pass. It is important to note when skiing this line, that you MUST access it very early in the day because it is WSW facing. This couloir does slide out often. If for any reason, you start later in the day, do not attempt this line. It is a classic line, but knowledge and mountaineering experience is required for this line more than most. As you drop in, the pitch will be sustained, however, it does not mellow out. In fact, it gets the steepest in the middle to end of the line. Once you start to exit this chute, enjoy nice open turns to the bottom.
