This 15.2-mile out-and-back trail takes you across the Blue Hills Reservation, a state park with more than 125 miles of trails and diverse ecosystems. Description

The trail starts at the Willard Street parking area and follows the blue blazes across the reservation. You will encounter varied terrain and fantastic views of Eliot Tower and the Boston Skyline. The trail summits a number of hills, including Hancock Hill, Hemingway Hill, Wolcott Hill and Great Blue Hill at an altitude of 635 feet - the highest point in the reservation. You will also pass by swamps, ponds, marshes, meadows, and forests along the way.

The trail is considered hard and requires some rock scrambling and steep climbs. It takes an average of 8 hours to complete, so make sure to bring enough water, snacks, and layers. The trail is open year-round and is dog-friendly, but make sure to keep your pup on a leash.
