One of the easier, more open runs in D Route
Freeride Skiing Difficult
Job 1 begins at the bomb box a few hundred yards to the South of the top of the Schlasman's Hike. This point is known as Fort Benton, and is the top of D Route. Job 1 from the very top is pretty technical, as it requires tight hop turns around rocks and pecker trees. This way in may be almost unskiable in the early season. You can come in a little lower down the skier's right shoulder in a couple spots that get easier as you travel East down the ridge from Fort Benton. Excepting the top two entrances, Job 1 is a really wide open run that doglegs to the left after about 400ft of fall line skiing once you hit the bench above Angry Chair and Saber Slice. Be sure to make this left turn over to the Z Fan, you don't want to get cliffed out on this bench. It is pretty well shaded most of the season and has great snow. It can be really nicely wind buffed after high winds, but most of the time will have powdery moguls because it sees a lot of traffic. Its a great run on a powder morning, and you can access it from the ridge hike above Bridger Chair as well as the Schlasman's side.
