At the time of this writing in 2021, Flicker is one of the freshest lines to be cut into the slopes of Big Sky Resort. This intermediate-friendly "tech trail" offers riders an avenue to dip their toes into the world of lift-served downhill riding on narrow, technical singletrack trails.

Description

Calling Flicker "technical" is a bit of a stretch, as the trail is quite smooth and manageable, all things considered. However, it's a tech trail in the sense that it is not a machine-built flow trail.

The interesting parts of Flicker come courtesy of wooden trail features that were constructed and incorporated into the trail. The top of the singletrack starts off easy with a basic bridge feature, resting just above ground level. As you continue down the trail, the wooden features get progressively more difficult, culminating in a couple of well-built wooden berms. These berms are steep enough to get riders used to the idea of railing wooden corners, and potentially work up to a true wallride feature. That said, most intermediate riders will be able to handle the wooden berms on Flicker without a problem.

Flicker drops out into Snake Charmer, which is a full-on flow trail with fairly large tabletop jumps. The character of this trail is completely different from Flicker, so bear that in mind when you're planning your route down the mountain.
