Arguably one of the two best glades on Mt. Ashland.
Freeride Skiing Difficult
Brutus is arguably one of the two best glades on Mt. Ashland. Easily accessible from the Windsor lift, this glade of towering douglas firs holds great snow through even the best of powder days. And since Windsor is less likely to get shut down due to inclement weather than the Ariel lift, Brutus is a much more reliable zone.
From the lift, the Brutus glade looks like an impenetrable forest with narry a path for a skier to thread, but once you dive into the glade, you'll discover that this isn't the case at all. The towering doug firs come together to create an impenetrable canopy, but far below their branches, the massive trunks are widely-spaced, providing sublime glade skiing! Do note that sometimes the entry and the exit are tighter, where more sunlight from the edges can help small trees to grow. But once in the heart of the glade, the spacing is absolutely perfect.
While Brutus is located close to the intermediate terrain on Mt. Ashland, FATMAP notes that this glade hits a maximum 32° gradient, making it steeper than most other glades on the mountain.
