Bachelor's obligatory wooden feature trail.
Mountain Biking Severe
The Big Wood trail is located on the lower half of Mt. Bachelor, meaning you can access it from a variety of other trails, including both Rattlesnake and Rockfall.
Big Wood is filled with, well, big wood. By that I mean that this is Mt. Bachelor’s nod to big wooden features, massive drops, and riders that want to get sendy. Wood features dominate the ride, and at the bottom, there’s a relatively large optional drop that leads to a long, well-built stone paver landing.
While these features are definitely high-consequence, most advanced-level riders should be able to make it down this trail in one piece, as you don't have to hit the largest features. If you do choose to get sendy, be sure to scout the features in advance.
Severe
Widely variable, narrow trail tread with steeper grades and unavoidable obstacles of 15in/38cm tall or less. Obstacles may include unavoidable bridges 24in/61cm wide or less, large rocks, gravel, difficult root sections, and more. Ideal for advanced-level riders.
