Spoonauger Falls Map

Nestled in a small cove just above Burrells Ford on the Chattooga River, Spoonauger Falls is an easily accessible 50-foot high waterfall less than 15 minutes from the parking lot. It's an excellent kid and dog-friendly hike, and its ease makes it "among the more popular in this area of the Chattooga River watershed," this source notes. It's a popular summer destination for visitors of Walhalla, Westminister, Seneca, and Clemson - though Highlands and Cashiers are a similar distance away.

Description

On holiday weekends and during the summer, this hike can be quite crowded - though a weekday morning will often lead you to have the entire trail to yourself. It's also a popular destination for anyone staying at Burrells Ford Campground during the warmer months.

Parking is available along the dirt road, near the campground, and immediately in front of the trailhead kiosk. 2WD vehicles will be fine, though moderate clearance is needed to avoid some of the ruts the road develops through the season. Developed vault toilets are available near the campground, but no water. Cell reception is also non-existent, so plan accordingly.

Should you have the time, nearby Kings Creek Falls is a staple waterfall noted as more "camera-friendly, especially in the summer when the plants snake all about and afternoon light highlights the innumerable horizontal slashes of the rock," this source notes.
