The North 40 trails provide a flowier counterpart to the techy rock gnar found on the other side of the Moab Brand Trail System in the Deadman's Ridge Trail. Of course, North 40 has its own technical parts, but this half of the network is quite approachable for intermediate riders.

Description

The Maverick trail included in this route is a downhill-only flow trail filled with berms, rollers, and small jumps. While Moab isn't known for its flow trails, Maverick's swoop and flow is well-worth the second climb back up the hillside.

Once into the main North 40 loop, the singletrack is flowy overall with the occasional rock garden or ledge drop punctuating the flow. After a flowy section, the trail will pass through or over a rock feature, getting very technical for a moment, then switching back to flow.

For advanced riders, some rock rolls can turn into rock drops, and in the technical sections, alternate lines leading to ledge drops exist for additional challenge.

Difficulty

Difficult

Mostly stable trail tread with some variability featuring larger and more unavoidable obstacles that may include, but not be limited to: bigger stones, roots, steps, and narrow curves. Compared to lower intermediate, technical difficulty is more advanced and grades of slopes are steeper. Ideal for upper intermediate riders.
