A low angle trail used to cross from Spruce Peak to Sterling Peak and to access the Back Bowls.
Freeride Skiing Easy
More of an approach trail than a ski run. From the top of Spruce Peak, hike up about 20 feet from the top of the Sensation Quad. From there, you will see a fairly wide trail to your right heading northeast. You can ski down to sterling pond then hike up to Sterling Peak. The pond may not be frozen in early season so be aware of your surroundings and stick to the sides. Since this serves as a hiking trail in the summer, there is a way around the pond. Despite this easy access, there is no joint ticket for Stowe and Smuggs, so most people don’t cross into Smugglers Notch. This trail is most often used to access the Back Bowls.
