Perry Merrill is the uphill route to Cliff House, which sits at the highest elevation within Stowe Resort at 3,625 feet. In the evenings after the resort has closed, you can use this route to skin all the way up, gaining more than 2000 feet from Midway Lodge. According to Stowe’s policy, you must then return downhill the same way, but Perry Merrill is a fun blue with a pitch that’s good for carving or bombing. Once back at the bottom, you can decide if you have the ambition to turn around and do it again.
Stowe allows uphill access on a handful of designated routes, which vary by time of day. Perry Merrill is open from 4:30pm until midnight, ideal for those who like to end the day with fitness laps. No pass is needed, but you must follow the policy and other guidelines found on the Mountain Safety webpage. Adhering to the policy is important in order to preserve uphill access at Stowe.
