A steep gully on the Frontside
Freeride Skiing Difficult
The terrain from Lucky Shot to Upper Ferk's is known as the Frontside. Pope's Gulch is the steep gully to the skier's left of Rainier Express. While still exposed from the chair, Pope's Gulch is partly hidden by a tree island. In early season before it is filled in, watch for the Sunnyside Road cat track three-quarters of the way down. Continue below this cat track for some lower angle terrain that is often mogul-filled.
