Storm Point is an easy, family-friendly loop, with many natural wonders and points of historical interest along the way. The trail passes by the historic Indian Pond, where Native American artifacts were found in 1880, including corals and wickiups. You’ll also have the opportunity to spot buffalo, bison, waterfowl, and even grizzly bears. Make sure to look out for the very cute yellow-bellied marmots, which live amongst the rocks surrounding Storm Point. Directions: Find the trailhead at Indian Pond pullout, 3 miles east of Fishing Bridge Visitor Centre. The trail starts by taking you through the expansive open meadows overlooking Indian Pond and Yellowstone Lake. Walk around Indian Pond until the trail turns right into the Lodepool pine forest. Lace through the trees, until the path breaks out of the forest and onto a white sandy beach until eventually bringing you to the blisteringly wind-swept Storm Point. Keep going around the shoreline to the west, where you’ll find the trail loops back into the forest, returning you to Indian Pond. Tips:

The trail is often closed in late spring and early summer because of bears. You can find out about closures at the Fishing Bridge Visitor Centre.
