La Balma's upper line Map

From the right of the "L'abarseta" chairlift, the red slope "La Balma" is the way to reach the line. Then follow "Les portelle's steep line" arete until you reach the first gully to your left. The traverse should not be long (10 minutes-ish) but good skills are required as this is a ridge and a fall could be disastrous. The line is pretty steep and engaging - only experienced steep skiers need apply. Good snow cover is often present in this area of the mountain due to the altitude and the face exposure. A good weather window is important due the ridge crossing and avalanche risk is important as the steepness of the line is around 50 degrees. The line finishes on the red piste "La Balma" which leads back to "La Balma" ski area or to the bottom of Arcalis ski area.
