Flute Main Map

Flute Main refers to the line that starts from the center of the ridge after the long hike up and around the edge. The center entrance usually has a decent-sized cornice that requires you to launch over before descending into your line. Make sure you are familiar with the hazards of cornices and how to navigate them before committing to this line, or choose another neighboring line that does not require entering the bowl via a cornice. This main section of the bowl has a steeper upper section before mellowing out and leading into the basin. Once inside, you will be able to spot the groomed track needed to exit out of here and back to the base of the Symphony Express. As this line requires less of a hike compared to lines on skier's right, this main area of the bowl will get tracked out more quickly. However, the hike needed to access this zone preserves an isolated and quiet feel and manages to deter most of the crowds.
