Freeride Skiing Difficult
Flute Shoulder is the line located to the right of the main section of the bowl. This line is easier than the main section as the entrance is not nearly as burly and does not involve navigating a cornice to gain entry. However, as it is located to skier's right of the center of the bowl, this line requires a bit more hiking along the ridge to access. That being said, it is definitely worth it, as this long and wide open line is one of the best you'll find in Flute Bowl. The extra hike means that it will take longer to get tracked out after a storm as many will choose to drop into lines earlier along the ridge line. It is still very steep but not as intimidating as other chutes and lines nearby. This line maintains its level of steepness throughout the wide bowl before plunging into the wide open Flute basin below. It is also longer than other neighboring lines as it crosses between a tiny section of trees on skiers right hand side and maintains its steepness throughout, before descending lower. Flute Shoulder can also be used to access the steeper Pig's Fancy line which breaks off on the right hand side, taking a steeper way down than the bottom of Flute Shoulder. Once you have passed the trees, you will be able to locate the groomed track below which will lead you back to the Symphony Express.
