Glacier Du Borgne

3 Valleys

Meribel

Vanoise Massif

A great skin! A classic of the 3 valleys this one. A nice powder field on a glacier without too many surprises- you'd be unlucky to find a crevasse!

Descend the Lac de la Chambre piste and as the run narrows on the right hand side just before the piste turns into a piste basher kind of track you stop here. Altitude is roughly 2500m. Look to your right and you will see a large bowl. The valley sides are fairly steep and this is essentially your way in. You put skins on here and walk to the head of the valley. You can skin it all the way but slightly steeper near the summit- takes about 2 hours. Its due north facing so snow conditions are often awesome. You should have a couple of 30m ropes with you, harnesses and crevasse rescue kit and knowledge just in case.
