Canalone Gran Sometta Map

This beautiful despite shady freeride line is relatively easy to reach and it's a wavy run that will appeal to everybody. The best way to reach it is to take the blue piste number 11 from the arrival of Lago Goillet chair lift that goes underneath the lift towards Valtournenche. Here you are on the ridge between Cervinia resort and Valtournenche sub area. Just after the lift cables keep your speed and drop into the powder on your right side, towards Gran Sometta peak. Stay as uphill on the left as far as possible to go over the little hill, then continue leftwards going closer to the bottom of the Gran Sometta. From here you will see the wide dip that expands downhill on the right side: usually is better to stay on its upper right part to avoid walking at the following section where another hollow could require some walking uphill towards the hill on the the left. From here the best part of the ride will start, with its wavy line, easy to ride with a beautiful panorama towards the Matterhorn, the Grand Murailles ridge and Cervinia. Ride the powder playing with your board/skis until you will reach the start of Lago Goillet lift.
