Ski Touring Difficult
Stretch the ski season using the Monte Rosa lift system that operates late into the spring at weekends, whisking ski tourers to over 3250 metres from the valley bottom. Straight forward uphill route finding past the Mantova and Giovanni refugios lead onto the north apron of Piramide Vincent. On descent take your pick of the excellent Freeride lines of Canale dell' Aquila or the classic Canal Grande. Often bumped out in the winter by adventurous resort skiers, by May they've transformed to smooth corn snow, providing untracked easy couloirs. Careful not to descend too low into the lower section of the Aquila, but skin back into resort once past the new Orestes Hutte.
