Mont Fort - Jacobs Ladder Map

A variant on the classic Backside route, which by adding a small climb after the first steep couloir gives access to a beautiful open bowl under the North face of Mont-Fort. Follow the start of the alternative left hand / second couloir described on the Mont-Fort Backside line. At the end of the couloir traverse left and boot pack up the short couloir known as Jacob's Ladder. The col gives access to the Glacier du Mont Fort which provides for some excellent wide open skiing. You can ski directly down to join the classic Backside descent or traverse left over another small col to traverse in to yet another bowl and the Cat Walk line which comes down from the Col Ferret. Take a 2 x 30m ropes amongst the group, crevasse rescue gear and the know how just in case- you will be on a glacier.
