The main north facing couloirs from the top of Mont Gele
Freeride Skiing Severe
The Mont Gele couloirs are Verbier classics and whilst they may be easily accessible they should not be underestimated. Good and sure snow conditions are required. The central couloirs provide the steep, serious but excellent couloir skiing from the top of Mont-Gele. If you have your steep ski technique fully dialled and conditions are right, these shouldn't be missed. From the top of the Mont-Gele lift station turn left and traverse under the summit of Mont-Gele. Reach the ridge and locate the entrance to the couloirs. One breaks out skiers right and the other follows the main couloir line. Both finish on the piste near Attelas.
Severe
Steep skiing at 38-45 degrees. This requires very good technique and the risk of falling has serious consequences.
