If you hiked to the top of Mainline Pocket and realized you bit off a bit more than you could chew, you have two options: you can hike back down or continue traversing. Mainline Pocket gets easier the further and further you traverse skiers' right. Eventually you get to an area where all the massive cliffs recede and a wide open bowl forms. Granted, you'll still have to drop a sizable cornice that can get large in size due to the high winds Palisades Tahoe has to deal with. Nevertheless, this is a much better way down Mainline Pocket for the inexperienced skier and is often the most traveled way down the run!
