Brake Through is a two-way trail that allows trail riders to pedal up the mountain if they’d like, or downhillers to connect across the mountain. Brake Through connects “to trails like Flow, Lincoln Express, Ricochet, and Seven Bridges,” according to MammothMountain.com.

Description

Overall, the trail tread of Brake Through is quite approachable and intermediate-friendly, but since it does climb so far up the mountainside, it does reach Mammoth’s classic pumice-filled singletrack. In places, Brake Through can be quite chunky and rough, although there aren’t any major features to speak of.

In the corners, expect Mammoth’s loose, sliding dirt, which can feel a bit tricky thanks to the exposed bench cut sections of trail. Some corners are reinforced with pavers, but not all.

One final benefit of climbing so far up the mountain on Brake Through are the stunning views of the region. Enjoy the expansive panoramas from the exposed flanks of Mammoth Mountain!
