Crows Feet Map

The Crows Foot is a massive avalanche path on the west-facing aspect of Lone Peak. It is seen from all over the Sandy valley. It is called Crow's foot because of the straight shot couloir and the many other narrow couloirs that connect into the big one. It is a classic, but rarely ever skied. If you're looking for a fun adventure to brag about to everyone you meet, this is definitely it. This couloir has a lot of avalanche debris in its path, so later in the season is the prime time to ski this couloir. It is close to the road, but due to the route, it is very hard to reach. Bring a machette because this means a lot of bushwacking.

You'll start your approach on a road that is closed off for cars. When you make your way to the top, take a left, you will need to cross a small river/stream where you will then hike up a steep pitch that lays adjacent to where you crossed. From there gain the ridge, hike up about half a mile and then drop down when you see the actual crow's foot. Make your way through the bush and the drainage to where it gets wide enough to put on your skins. Begin your approach to the apron. Then begins your boot up the couloir. Once at the top, enjoys some nice couloir skiing, and the same route back to where you started.
