Banana Chute Map

A narrow chute on the skier's left of the permanently closed Rock Face, Banana Chute is for experts only. Enter just past the Rock Face rope line. Ducking the rope here could result in losing skiing privileges for a year and a large fine. Banana Chute is the only portion of Rock Face open to the public. It is challenging enough to weed out all but experts. Banana actually looks more intimidating than it is. Once past the steep opening, the couloir is wide enough to make turns. Guarded on each side by tall cliffs, Banana is as aesthetic as it is challenging. Below these cliffs, continue straight down to Kelly's Gap Road. Do not traverse to the right under Elbow Chute, as this avalanches regularly and is part of the permanent closure.
