Brennerspitze Map

When you drive into Stubaital and slowly head towards Neustift im Stubaital, you can't fail to notice the majesty of Brennerspitze just behind the village, opposite Habicht - and looking down to the whole valley from above. It is a dream for many to ski this line which, looking from below - looks like an incredible steep line. It for sure requires a good riding level but hey, don’t get too impressed from the perspective you get from town: it is really steep indeed, but not as much as vertical as it looks like!

Description

The climb to the peak is quite long, given that you have to start from the very bottom of the valley - precisely from Krössbach - before then entering the forest road (which in winter is a sledge track).

Here you could either follow this road all the way up Milderaunalm or take some shortcuts where the snow level lets you do so. From Milderaunalm, you are slowly saying goodbye to the trees before getting into the bowl just at the bottom of Brennerspitze south face. It’s time for the last effort and climb all the way up to the summit.

There are crazy views from up here which will probably make you forget about the big effort you just put in: the climb is long and really sun exposed, and could be really exhausting on spring days when sun rays are hitting this line - but at least you are probably about to ski some proper corn!

The descent goes through the south face before then getting back to the hut and - following the sledge track - back to the car in the valley.
