Ski Touring Difficult
From the Hoadlhaus restaurant (2304 metres), ski south on the Olympia Abfahrt Damen piste and follow it for 300 vertical metres to the Dohlennest bar. Put skins on and climb south-east for 15 - 20 minutes to the Widdersbergsattel col (2262 metres). Turn left and follow the beautiful, wide ridge for 7 - 8 minutes to the exposed summit of the Widdersberg (2327 metres). From here the line is to the north. In good conditions it might be possible to ski directly north off the summit but generally the first 20 - 30 metres of the Widdersberg north face is windblown and rocky, so it's usually necessary to carry your skis down this section and put them on 20 - 30 metres below the summit. Once you have your skis on, traverse around left to go from the north face onto the west face of the Widdersberg. This traverse is above a huge cliff so whilst it is not too steep (25 degrees-ish) it is serious, and any moving snow or a fall in icy conditions could be disastrous. Only ski here if you are confident in the conditions and your own ability. Once past the traverse onto the west face hangs nicely and rolls down towards the Dohlennest bar. It doesn't go to the bar but instead turns right and heads down to rejoin the Olympia Abfahrt Damen piste.
