Pointe Alphonse Favre North-West Couloir Map

This is a serious line, with some avalanche danger, some steep turns and a tricky rocky step to negotiate. If conditions and abilities align, it makes for a superb mountain adventure. Follow the Glacier Mort ski tour to the summit of the Pointe Alphonse Favre. Ski due north off the summit for 20 metres and the entrance to this line is on your left, at a small col. Drop over the col into a short 40 degree bowl and ski down this, initially on skier's right and then coming back left until you are perched above a narrow and slightly intimidating couloir. Ski into the couloir and follow it (you won't get lost!) to a rock step halfway down. Downclimb/sideslip/abseil (a 30 metre rope is required if you abseil) this and then enjoy the final section of couloir before the route opens up into a fun slope and takes you into the Bérard valley. Follow the classic Crochues Bérard tour down to Le Buet.
