Couloir Longhez Map

This well known couloir is not often skied due to its difficulty and necessary commitment. The entrance is not obvious as it is a diagonal couloir and the first section is very narrow, followed by a delicate traverse to the final pitch.

Description

From the top station of the Passo Salati Funifor, take the lift from Pianalunga. Ski on the ridge past the entrance of the Rettilineo couloir for about 100m. The entry is two meters wide, and the couloir extends down and round to the left. Descend the first 50m (50°), and avoid the first cliff by traversing left to a col. Continue to the left in the couloir (45°), past some other cliffs and carefully traverse left across an exposed section. From here the couloir becomes easier and rejoins the Balma classic itinerary. Follow it to Alagna valley.
