Vallone d'Olen Map

For many years the Olen valley has been the most popular and classic route on the Monte Rosa, linking Alagna and Gressoney with a series of wide and beautiful slopes. With the construction of the cable car from Pianalunga to Passo Salati, this area has become even more popular due to the proximity of the piste and some of the highest quality snow in the area.

Description

From the Passo dei Salati top station follow the track to the old Vigevano hut down the right side of the Olen valley. From the hut you can look over the valley down to Pianalunga lift station. The best slopes are the north facing ones, but be careful after abundant snowfalls as they are particularly avalanche prone. The left side of the Olen valley is possible to ski until the middle, after which you must head to the right due to a large cliff (middle lift station, Cimalegna). Normally, this route ends just before the Pianalunga lift station.
