Hiking Easy
Beginning the same as the popular hike to Flattop Mountain, this loop around Blueberry Knoll is much less strenuous, but offers similar views as the scramble to Flattop's summit. It makes a great first hike in the Chugach for anyone visiting Anchorage.
On a clear day you can see over the entire city, plus the ocean and mountains beyond. If it's really clear, you might get a stellar view of Denali on the horizon. Close up you'll see numerous wildflowers in summer, or berries and changing foliage in the fall. You can also take a side trail to the top on the knoll, for a solitary view that's even better than the rest.
