Sabino Lake Loop Map

This loop hike may be short, but it leads to a surprisingly beautiful oasis in the Sonoran Desert! Here, Sabino Creek is blocked up by a small dam, creating a small pool that's known as "Sabino Lake." It's best to visit the lake during spring runoff when both the lake and the creek bottom are full of water.

Description

This beautiful oasis is popular with locals, and especially with kids, so on most days, you can expect to find others frolicking in the clear pools of water. Near the lake, you'll find a few picnic tables and outhouses, so you can enjoy a full day at "the lake."

The hike as mapped traverses mostly-flat singletrack with a short section of road as an option. Some portions of the hike are a bit rocky and could be considered tricky by some hikers, but most fit and moderately-experienced hikers will have absolutely no problem with this loop. It would make for a great after work hike due to its short length, while still providing beautiful views along the way!
