During the summer at Palisades Tahoe, High Camp is the place to be. There you’ll find dining with a view, a swimming pool and hot tub, shopping, outdoor games, and even skiing on winter’s leftover snow. Most visitors reach it by riding the aerial tram, but you can hike there on Shirley Canyon Trail or Thunder Mountain Trail. From High Camp, a number of other hikes are possible, including this popular and easy loop through the surrounding meadows.

Description

It’s a gentle walk uphill, on a dirt path through a meadow of yellow wildflowers on a sunny slope. Ahead you’ll see the craggy, snow-streaked peaks of the ski resort, and in the distance, you can see Lake Tahoe rimmed by more mountains. The loop’s highpoint is on a ridgeline with an even broader panorama. The hike then turns downhill on a different, equally scenic path to return to High Camp.
