A partly open, partly tree-d run just outside the resort boundary
Freeride Skiing Difficult
There is no avalanche control in this area, so make sure to carry a beacon, probe, shovel, and know how to use them. After unloading from the Great Western chair head left out of the resort boundary gate into Hidden Canyon. As soon as you go through the gate, head left (downhill) following the fall line with the resort boundary rope to your left. The first couple hundred feet of this run are open, but will become more tree-d as you go down. Often times the top section will be wind affected so watch out for exposed rocks! This is usually a great place to find soft turns outside of the resort.
After heading down where the trees begin to thicken, you can either stay left and enter back into the resort boundary or turn right down into the trees. Heading back into the resort makes for a quicker run. Heading right into the trees below is a short and fun shot that will end in a relatively flat opening. Once you're at that opening, you'll have to take a long traverse back around into the bottom of Great Western Lift. Make sure not to cut off this traverse or you will have to walk back on the road. The traverse out will be in tall pine trees for most of the way, with a sharp left turn as soon as you start to see aspen trees. This traverse isn't groomed, but usually obvious from ski traffic. As it wraps around the final sections, you will see some cabins below you as you begin to approach the resort.
