Georges Map

Georges is one of the classic powder bowls in the Wasatch Backcountry. It can be accessed by parking at the Cardiff Fork (Mill D South) trailhead and following the old mining road south up into the enormous basin. Follow the road past Doughnut Falls and trend right if the trail/road branches off. Make sure avalanche conditions are low because you'll be passing underneath some huge avalanche paths from Kessler Peak. Just past these open avalanche debris clearings you'll branch off into the woods on your right hand side, W. Weave your way through the trees avoiding steeper open sections until you reach the ridge.

Description

From here you can lap the area using your skin track. This is some excellent mid-angle tree skiing. Then back down and out of Cardiff Fork. Or, drop over the ridge for some good runs down and out of Mineral Fork, and hitch-hike back up to your car. Make a note that the Wasatch Powderbird Guides heli-skiing operation flies this area often so you may encounter them on certain days.
