Suicide Chute is one of the most popular classics on one of the most iconic peaks in the Wasatch, Mount Superior.
Ski Touring Severe
Suicide Chute is a fun easy to access roadside attraction that sees lots of traffic, but it's a worthy outing. Best approached by parking near the bottom of the S face of Mount Superior, skinning up the apron trending to the left and then booting directly up the chute.
The chute itself is narrow, but with plenty of room for turns and it's got a nice consistent pitch for about one thousand feet before it empties onto the apron of the S face of Mount Superior. The top can have a cornice that can vary in size. But in most seasons it's easy enough to enter into the chute and enjoy the 40 degree slopes.
Severe
Steep skiing at 38-45 degrees. This requires very good technique and the risk of falling has serious consequences.
