A sidestep/bootpack to Bear Claw and The Church
Freeride Skiing Moderate
This approach route ascends the ridge beyond Paradise via the Long Trail (North). This backpacking trail traverses the length of Vermont, crossing many peaks, including Lincoln Peak and Mount Ellen. From where the trail leaves Paradise, it ascends the ridge as a sidestep. After about 5 minutes of sidestepping, the ridge gets steeper an becomes a bootpack. Bear Claw branches to skiers right here. If you are looking to drop The Church, take off your skis and continue hiking to a summit knob. You can put your skis on now and traverse to an opening in the woods, this is The Church.
