Narrow Chute Right Map

A narrow chute above Avalanche Basin, Narrow Chute Right is slightly more challenging than it's neighbor Narrow Chute Left. A large cornice often guards the entrance to this chute. Even when the ski patrol uses explosives to reduce the cornice, the entrance can be quite steep. The safest entrance might be closer to the King. The ribs on either side of the chute may require mandatory air, while the chute itself is just wide enough to make turns. Access from either Southback gate along the Throne ridge bootpack. Traverse around the back of the Throne to Avalanche Basin (A-Basin). Narrow Chute Right and Left are the first entrances after the short hiking traverse behind A-Basin Buttress.
