Piz Umbrail alpine tour Map

We are in the magnificent territory of "Stelvio National Park": Starting from Bormio you can reach the Stelvio Pass by local means of transport (bus), then get off at the "Quarta Cantoniera" and go up from there to Piz Umbrail (3033 m). From here we are in Switzerland. Descend from the summit to Lej da Rims and on a path with some exposed hairpin bends you reach the valley floor. Now there is a climb in Val Mora on a dirt road until you reach a small refuge towards the end of the valley (open in summer). Take the path that climbs to the right and you reach Passo del Gallo from where you then reach Lake Livigno by descending. Now we are back in Italian Country, From the lake remains the last climb to the Cancano lakes from which you descend to Bormio first on a singletrack then on a cycle path. (You can find snow in early june in Piz Umbrail area).
