Keystone allows morning and evening uphill access on two designated routes. This is the one from the Mountain House base area. It begins less steeply than the River Run route, making it more suitable for anyone still learning their equipment. The route takes Schoolmarm > Jaybird then joins the main uphill route on Springdipper to the top of the mountain.
You can’t ski whatever you want from the summit, however. Keystone requires uphillers to descend by the same route. The good news is that they don’t require a pass for uphill as of the 2021/2022 season. Keep in mind that uphill access can close at any time due to conditions or mountain operations. You can check the uphill status and policies on Keystone’s Mountain Info page, or call the access hotline: (970)-496-4033
