Hiking Difficult, Severe
Yoho doesn’t get quite the same attention as its neighboring national parks of Jasper and Banff, but trailheads in Yoho can still get quite crowded in the summer. You should arrive early to secure parking for the most popular short hikes, such as Takakkaw Falls or Sherbrooke Lake.
The best way to avoid congestion on the trails, however, is to simply hike farther, leaving the crowds behind. The adventures listed here are not only challenging and, therefore, uncrowded, they also happen to be some of the most rewarding in Yoho National Park, with unrivaled views deep in the backcountry.

Difficult Hiking
Hands-down one of Yoho’s best all-day hikes, this loop combines the scenic shore of Emerald Lake with high-elevation vantage on the Wapta Highline.
Difficult Hiking
An epic day hike almost entirely above treeline, connecting proud overlooks and smaller lakes above Lake O'Hara.
Severe Hiking
Yoho’s best trek for waterfall viewing, making a challenging one-day or overnight circuit.
